Emma Charnock Physiotherapy Yorkshire delivers expert paediatric physiotherapy in Halifax and the surrounding region. She brings over 15 years of specialist experience to her role, offering tailored therapy for children with diverse physical needs. Her dedication to fun, achievable goals ensures that each child enjoys their therapy sessions while making meaningful progress.
After graduating from the University of Manchester in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Emma began her career in NHS rotations. She gained valuable experience treating both adults and children. However, her passion quickly focused on paediatrics, which became her primary area of expertise.
For the past 15 years, she has specialised in paediatric physiotherapy, supporting children with a wide range of conditions. Since 2022, she has also worked part-time in private practice, offering families greater flexibility and access to care.
Emma’s professional background covers a variety of settings: preschools, mainstream schools, special schools, clinics, hospitals, homes, and hydrotherapy pools. This versatility enables her to adapt therapy to suit each child’s environment and needs.
She regularly works with children facing:
Neurological conditions
Cerebral palsy
Brain injuries
Neuromuscular disorders
Down’s syndrome
Genetic syndromes
Developmental delays
Cystic fibrosis
Musculoskeletal challenges
Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
In addition to her clinical role, Emma takes on several leadership and support responsibilities. She is a team lead for Safeguarding and a qualified key trainer in moving and handling. She also trains local authority staff and serves as a well-being ambassador. Moreover, she supervises junior staff, contributes to hydrotherapy rotas, and supports a local CF Network clinic.
Emma stays committed to ongoing learning. Her CPD includes Aquatic Therapy, Cystic Fibrosis study days, and Neuromuscular training. Her recent CPD portfolio audit affirms her dedication to professional excellence.
She is an active member of the CSP, HCPC, and APCP, ensuring she upholds the highest standards in physiotherapy care.
Families trust Emma not just for her clinical skills but for her warmth and understanding. She works collaboratively with children and parents to create exciting, goal-oriented plans. Outside of work, Emma enjoys exploring Calderdale on long walks with her three dogs—Bonnie, Poppy, and Betsy—and spending time with her two boys.
