Lakhbinder Pabla Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon Newcastle is a highly experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon with a specialist focus on paediatric ENT. She currently serves at the Great North Children’s Hospital and Freeman Hospital, offering expert care to children across the region.

Miss Pabla’s journey began at the prestigious Oxford University Medical School. She graduated in 2007 and also completed an intercalated degree in Physiological Sciences. Her foundation years provided a broad surgical base during her time in the West Midlands. Building on this, she pursued higher surgical training in Otolaryngology in the North East of England.

Comprehensive Training and Early Leadership

During her registrar years, Miss Pabla cultivated a strong interest in both paediatric ENT and medical education. Her leadership shone through, as she represented trainees regionally and nationally, including serving on the British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists (BAPO) Committee. Her passion for teaching led her to complete a Diploma in Medical Education from Newcastle University in 2018.

Specialist Experience in Paediatric ENT Surgery

After completing her training, Miss Pabla joined Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool as a Locum Paediatric ENT Consultant. She successfully managed a wide range of conditions, including complex paediatric ENT cases and regular Down’s Syndrome clinics. To further hone her specialist skills, she pursued a one-year paediatric ENT fellowship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

Since 2020, Miss Pabla has served within the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She works primarily at the Great North Children’s and Freeman Hospitals. Additionally, she runs community clinics in North Tyneside and Cramlington to ensure accessible care for families closer to home.

Multidisciplinary Approach to Complex Paediatric Conditions

Miss Pabla is a key member of the paediatric airway multidisciplinary team. She contributes to both emergency and routine airway care. Furthermore, she is the ENT lead in the Newcastle Cleft Service, performing hearing surgery for children born with cleft palates. Her expertise also includes treating excessive drooling, offering salivary gland procedures when appropriate.

Education, Mentoring, and Inspiring the Next Generation

Her dedication to education remains strong. She teaches across regional and national training programs while mentoring upcoming surgeons.
