Damian Holliman Consultant Neurosurgeon Newcastle leads the team at the RVI Neurosciences Centre. He specialises in neuro-oncology, skull base surgery, and head injury care. Moreover, he delivers patient-focused treatment plans that prioritise both safety and recovery. In addition, he collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for every patient.
Mr Holliman completed a 1st class BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from Dundee. Following this, he earned a Glaxo Prize Scholarship to study for a PhD in molecular neurobiology at the Institute of Psychiatry, London. Consequently, his deep understanding of molecular science informs his advanced neurosurgical practice. Furthermore, he undertook undergraduate medical training in Newcastle, gaining valuable local experience.
Mr Holliman expanded his expertise through general neurosurgical training in Cambridge, Middlesbrough, and Newcastle. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in Neuro-oncology and Skull Base Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada. This advanced training allowed him to master complex surgical techniques. Additionally, he continues to refine his skills through continuous professional development.
Mr Holliman actively promotes clinical research. Currently, he serves as the Newcastle Principal Investigator for the STOP-D trial. As a result, patients benefit from cutting-edge treatments and innovative therapies. Moreover, his research-driven approach enhances outcomes for neuro-oncology and skull base surgery cases.
Mr Holliman welcomes referrals for neuro-oncology, skull base tumours, head injury, and general neuro-spinal surgery. Furthermore, he works closely with referring doctors to coordinate treatment plans efficiently. In addition, he communicates clearly with patients and families, ensuring everyone understands the care pathway.
