He spent two years at the Freeman Hospital as a clinical research fellow. During that time, he focused on autoimmune liver disease. Additionally, he completed a post-CCT fellowship at the same hospital, further refining his expertise.

Dr Aaron Wetten leads the NHS England Community Liver Health Checks pilot. This program serves the North-east and Cumbria region. With this initiative, he aims to detect liver conditions early and reduce long-term complications.

Moreover, he chairs a monthly liver multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting. This MDT serves the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a result, patients benefit from collaborative decision-making and tailored treatment plans.
