Abi Rotchell Occupational Therapy Sheffield focuses on empowering individuals through holistic, person-centred care. A registered Occupational Therapist, brings a wealth of experience across multiple disciplines, including mental health rehabilitation, paediatrics, learning disabilities, and sensory integration.
Abi holds a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from Sheffield Hallam University. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a proud member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Her background equips her to work confidently across various settings in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.
With a strong foundation in Abi Rotchell Occupational Therapy Sheffield, Abi has focused on Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health and Rehabilitation services. She applies the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to guide assessment and treatment. Transitioning patients into meaningful daily activities helps them reduce anxiety, manage stress, and regain a sense of purpose.
Abi’s career spans over fifteen years across early years education, SEN support, community care, and respite services. This extensive history enables her to tailor interventions effectively. She has supported both children and adults in diverse roles, from inclusion outreach to one-to-one educational support.
Abi recently expanded her scope into physical health, working with the Reablement Team. She promotes independence at home post-discharge using evidence-based strategies. Each treatment plan centres on personal goals, fostering confidence and dignity.
Abi is passionate about sensory integration and neurodiversity. Her training includes sensory modulation, laddering techniques, and Makaton. She is actively working toward a master’s degree in Sensory Integration Therapy, starting in March 2025. Her goal is to better serve individuals with complex sensory profiles and learning disabilities.
Committed to growth, Abi completes regular CPD. Her recent training includes trauma-informed care, mindfulness, transgender equality, OT formulation, and sleep interventions. She also engages in peer supervision and community presentations to raise awareness of occupational therapy as a profession.
Abi works as part of Smart Rehabilitation, providing therapy in educational settings for young people aged 16–19. She facilitates access to learning and leisure and supports self-care and independent living skills. Her approach emphasises inclusion, empowerment, and achievable progression.
