Alex Secker Speech and Language Therapist Lincoln delivers expert, personalized therapy to clients across Lincoln and surrounding areas. With a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy from De Montfort University, Alex combines knowledge and compassion to support individuals facing communication challenges. Since qualifying in 2023, Alex has worked primarily in the private sector, gaining valuable experience and making a real difference in clients’ lives.
Alex is fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and a certified member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. She specializes in brain injury, aphasia, apraxia of speech, and voice disorders. Furthermore, Alex continually updates her skills through Continuous Professional Development courses such as Facial Rehabilitation and Makaton certification. This ongoing learning ensures she provides the most effective and up-to-date therapy techniques.
Currently, Alex works in an in-patient neuro-rehabilitation setting in Nottingham, managing a caseload that includes individuals recovering from traumatic and acquired brain injuries, strokes, and brain damage. Additionally, she supports patients with progressive neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease. By collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team, Alex designs tailored therapy plans that help clients meet meaningful communication goals.
Alex has extensive experience working with a variety of speech and voice disorders, ranging from vocal palsy to aphasia. She conducts thorough assessments to evaluate essential language skills including comprehension, functional communication, reading, writing, and problem-solving. Based on these evaluations, Alex develops specialized therapy programs focused on both short- and long-term goals, ensuring the client remains at the center of their recovery journey.
Before focusing on neurological therapy, Alex worked with children and young adults in special education settings. There, she supported individuals with autism and learning disabilities to enhance their communication and cognitive abilities. Alex contributed to the development of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and collaborated within multidisciplinary teams to ensure tailored educational support. This background strengthens her holistic approach to therapy today.
