My path to therapy started during a personal crisis. When my daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of two, I turned to therapy to help me cope with the overwhelming emotions. Thankfully, she recovered, but the experience inspired me to help others in similar situations.
Over the years, I trained in person-centred, humanistic counselling. I learned to listen deeply, offering unconditional positive regard and empathy. While understanding the problem was key, I wanted to provide practical tools to help clients make lasting changes in their lives.
I now specialise in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), particularly for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). DBT helps clients manage emotional regulation, self-destructive behaviours, and interpersonal issues commonly associated with BPD. It teaches skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills enable individuals to lead more balanced and fulfilling lives.
In addition to DBT, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This therapy helps clients identify negative thought patterns and behaviours, allowing them to challenge and change these habits. Using techniques like cognitive restructuring and behavioural experiments, we work together to create healthier thought processes and more positive behaviours.
CBT is effective for those struggling with anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. My goal is to equip clients with tools to cope with life’s obstacles in healthier ways.
I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Anglia Ruskin University. My experience spans working with individuals facing personality disorders, trauma, and emotional regulation issues. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their struggles.
Whether you’re dealing with BPD, anxiety, or any other mental health issue, I’m here to support you. Together, we can work toward positive, lasting change.
