Amirah Abrahams Physiotherapist Constantia Kloof is passionate about helping patients regain movement and independence. She graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 2017 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Her journey in the field has been both dynamic and fulfilling.
Amirah completed her community service at the Johannesburg Metropolitan District. She split her time between Mofolo CHC and Lenasia CHC, working within a dedicated multi-disciplinary team. This team included a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and dietician.
During this year, she treated adults with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, and neurological conditions. She also worked closely with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental delays. Her role extended beyond clinic walls as she participated in outreach programs. These included hydrotherapy, hippotherapy, and early childhood intervention screenings. Through these experiences, she developed a deep love for paediatric physiotherapy.
Amirah believes in continuous learning. In 2018, she attended a HiTech Therapy CLX Theraband Training, a Cerebral Palsy Workshop, and a Spasticity Workshop. These courses strengthened her ability to provide effective treatment.
Her passion for neurological and paediatric physiotherapy continues to grow. She remains committed to refining her skills and expanding her expertise.
After completing community service, Amirah gained valuable experience in hospital settings. She worked as a locum physiotherapist at Netcare Milpark Hospital and Mediclinic Emfuleni. These roles exposed her to diverse patient needs and advanced rehabilitation techniques.
In June 2019, she joined Rehabilita. Here, she focuses on neurological physiotherapy while nurturing her passion for paediatrics. Her approach prioritizes patient-centered care, ensuring that every individual receives tailored treatment.
Amirah believes that collaboration enhances patient outcomes. She applies the phrase, “Teamwork makes the dream work!” in every aspect of her practice. By working closely with other healthcare professionals, she ensures comprehensive rehabilitation for her patients.
Her dedication to helping individuals regain mobility and independence makes her an invaluable asset to the Constantia Kloof community.
