Andrew Browning Consultant Ophthalmologist Newcastle leads the medical retina services at the Newcastle Eye Centre, Royal Victoria Infirmary. He specialises in treating complex conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. Furthermore, he focuses on retinal genetics, ocular electrophysiology, and cataract surgery. Because of his expertise, many patients trust his care for their vision health.
Mr Browning completed his early medical training in Southampton. Later, he undertook his registrar training in Nottingham, which laid a solid foundation for his clinical skills. During this time, he conducted significant research on ocular angiogenesis. This work directly related to the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.
After his research, Mr Browning trained as a medical retina fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital, one of the world’s leading eye centres. This experience enhanced his expertise in managing complex retinal conditions. Consequently, he developed innovative approaches to patient care that improve outcomes and quality of life.
He then joined the Newcastle Eye Centre team. Since then, he has contributed significantly to advancing medical retina services in the region. His dedication ensures patients receive the latest treatments backed by cutting-edge research and clinical practice.
