Welcome to Anne Brown Psychotherapy. I am a UK registered and qualified psychotherapist with a strong background in integrative psychotherapeutic counselling. I hold a CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine, and a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) from the University of California, San Diego. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I work to uphold the highest professional standards in my practice.
My approach to therapy is integrative, combining a variety of therapeutic modalities to suit the individual needs of my clients. These include Gestalt, Psychosynthesis, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, and Compassion-Focused Therapy. Additionally, I offer couples therapy, drawing on techniques from renowned sources such as Juliette Grayson, Ellyn Bader, and the Gottman Institute.
With 21 years of living in the United Kingdom, both in London and Bath, I have built a practice that reflects my extensive experience, both as a therapist and a person. My previous career as a contemporary artist has given me a profound understanding of the human psyche, enriching my work with clients. Additionally, my study of ancient Eastern Buddhist teachings, including a prolonged monastic sojourn, has deeply influenced my approach. It has instilled in me an appreciation for life's ebb and flow, which informs my work as a therapist.
At Anne Brown Psychotherapy, I offer a comprehensive range of therapeutic services designed to address various emotional and psychological needs. These services include:
Individual Therapy: I work with clients facing a variety of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem issues. My integrative approach allows me to tailor therapy to each individual, ensuring that we address your unique needs and goals.
Couples Therapy: Relationships can be challenging, and couples therapy offers a safe space to explore and resolve conflicts. I incorporate a combination of approaches, including those from the Gottman Institute and Juliette Grayson, to help couples improve communication, deepen their connection, and navigate relationship issues.
Trauma-Informed Therapy: Many individuals carry the weight of past trauma, which can deeply affect their sense of self and relationships. I offer trauma-informed therapy to help you explore and heal from past wounds in a compassionate and non-judgemental environment.
Self-Awareness and Personal Growth: Therapy is not just about addressing struggles – it's also a space for self-exploration and personal growth. I work with clients to help them discover their true selves, unlock potential, and move toward greater self-acceptance.
The therapeutic journey is one of profound self-discovery. It requires courage and vulnerability, but it is also incredibly rewarding. My goal is to guide you through this process in a way that aligns with your needs and pace. Therapy with me is about moving toward greater self-awareness, healing, and emotional freedom.
I am committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in my work. As a member of the BACP, I adhere to their Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and I engage in regular supervision and continuous professional development.
