April Baby Physio provides expert physiotherapy for children from birth to three years. Founded by April Toomey, a highly specialist paediatric physiotherapist, the practice focuses on early intervention and empowering parents through trusted, evidence-based support.
April has worked in paediatrics since 2012 and uses a holistic, play-based approach. Her sessions centre on the bond between parent and baby, helping families feel confident and informed. After becoming a mother, April noticed how much misinformation exists for new parents. She founded April Baby Physio to reduce guilt and fear, and to support parents in enjoying their baby’s development.

April is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is a member of both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (mCSP) and the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (mAPCP).
She has worked in world-leading children’s hospitals, including the Mater Children’s Hospital in Australia and the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London. Her experience covers neonatal intensive care, complex developmental needs, and leading school-based therapy services.
Available services include:
Developmental assessments and early intervention
April uses tools such as the Bayley Scales, Prechtl Movement Assessment, and Hammersmith Exams to detect and address delays early.
Parent-centred physiotherapy
Sessions involve parents actively. You’ll learn practical ways to support your baby’s physical development at home.
Baby massage, yoga and Pilates
These gentle therapies support bonding, movement and sensory development in a relaxed setting.
Neurological and sensory assessments
April offers structured evaluations for babies showing signs of neurological or sensory differences.
Aquatic therapy, hippotherapy and orthotic management
For children with physical conditions such as cerebral palsy, therapy includes water-based treatment, limb casting, and spasticity care.
April’s services draw on extensive post-graduate training, including:
Sensory Beginnings Master Course
Early Intervention for High Risk Infants (EISMART)
Neonatal intensive care and neurodevelopment
Paediatric gait analysis and orthotic support
Limb casting and advanced therapy techniques
At April Baby Physio, every treatment plan is tailored to the individual child. April’s values—parent and child-centred care, evidence-based treatment, and a holistic, play-focused approach—guide all aspects of her work.
She has worked across both public and private sectors to improve standards of care and access to specialist services. Whether you’re concerned about your baby’s motor skills or simply want expert reassurance, April offers calm, professional support with a clear focus: to help your baby thrive.
