Arun Nair Consultant Respiratory Newcastle offers expert care in advanced lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and lung transplantation. With years of training and hands-on experience, he provides clear, effective treatment for people with complex breathing conditions.
Dr. Nair started his specialist training in 2006 in the East of Scotland. By 2011, he earned an MD from the University of Dundee. His research focused on asthma and airway inflammation. He also studied how inhaled medicines work inside the lungs. As a result, he gained deep insight into how to improve treatment.
In 2009, he received the Scadding Morriston Davies Fellowship. This allowed him to train in advanced bronchoscopy in Germany with Professor Lutz Freitag. The experience shaped his skills in interventional procedures.
In 2012, he completed a Master’s in Pulmonary Vascular Diseases at the University of Bologna. Earlier, in 2009, he had come to Newcastle to train in lung transplant care and pulmonary hypertension. That experience had a lasting impact on his career.
Soon after, he became a national research fellow. His work focused on liver-related pulmonary hypertension. This helped him understand rare lung and heart issues more clearly.
Later, Dr. Nair joined City Hospitals Sunderland as a consultant. At the same time, he continued his work at the Freeman Hospital. After a sabbatical in India, he returned to Newcastle. There, he resumed his consultant role with added experience and vision.
Today, Dr. Nair treats patients with advanced lung disease and pulmonary hypertension. He also performs endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and other complex lung procedures.
Because of his experience and training, patients receive safe, effective, and modern care. In every case, he aims to make breathing easier and life better.
