Bhupal Chitnavis Neurosurgeon London is a highly experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon with a specialist focus on spinal surgery. He has trained at some of the UK’s most prestigious hospitals and continues to offer advanced spinal treatments in both the NHS and private sector.
Mr Chitnavis earned his medical degree from Guy’s Hospital, London. He completed specialist surgical training at Great Ormond Street Hospital and King’s College Hospital. While training at King’s, he developed a strong interest in both spinal and vascular neurosurgery. He trained under Professor Anthony Strong and Dr Richard Gullan, two leaders in their respective fields.
Before this, he gained early neurosurgical experience in Birmingham with the late Professor Edward Hitchcock. He then trained at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery under Professor Lindsay Simon. Throughout his education, he pursued complex techniques, including high-flow vascular bypass surgery.
Mr Chitnavis has a principal focus on spinal surgery. His expertise lies in complex spinal stabilisation and the development of innovative instrumentation. He also integrates orthopaedic spinal surgery techniques into his work. He trained in Germany with Professor Jürgen Harms and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London.
Additionally, Mr Chitnavis offers CyberKnife therapy, minimally invasive procedures, and complex spinal revision surgeries. His skills span a wide range of procedures including discectomy, scoliosis surgery, spinal decompression, and spinal fusion.
Alongside his private spinal surgery practice, Mr Chitnavis continues to serve in the NHS. He remains committed to education and regularly trains neurosurgeons and spinal surgeons through the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is also deeply involved in surgical charity work, helping to train surgeons in developing countries. This global focus reflects his passion for improving spinal care worldwide.
