Bodycentric is a specialised physiotherapy practice dedicated to supporting professional and pre-professional performers, including dancers and vocalists. Located in Adelaide, the clinic focuses on injury prevention, dance rehabilitation, conditioning, and vocal and laryngeal physiotherapy. Their aim is to help clients move more freely, feel stronger, and develop body awareness through expert manual therapy and targeted movement exercises. Above all, Bodycentric empowers performers with the knowledge and tools to maintain their health over the long term.
Melinda is a Titled Sports Physiotherapist with a strong passion for working with performing artists. Her background in dance — beginning as a child extra with the English National Ballet Company — sparked her journey into physiotherapy. After overcoming her own injuries through dedicated physiotherapy and Pilates, Melinda realised her calling: to help others recover and perform at their best.
Melinda holds a Master of Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University and a Master of Physiotherapy from UniSA. She also earned a Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction through Polestar Pilates International. Her clinical experience includes placements with the Queensland Ballet and the Australian Ballet Companies, where she gained invaluable mentoring from leading experts.
Bodycentric provides tailored services to meet the unique needs of performers, including:
Injury Prevention and Dance Rehabilitation
Personalised programs designed to reduce injury risk and optimise recovery for dancers and athletes.
Conditioning and Movement Training
Evidence-based exercise plans that improve strength, flexibility, and biomechanics to support peak performance.
Vocal and Laryngeal Physiotherapy
Specialist care for vocal health, helping singers and speakers optimise their voice and reduce strain.
Manual Therapy
Hands-on treatment techniques to relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance muscle function.
Melinda has worked with world-class companies and productions, including the Australian Ballet’s ‘Counterpointe’ tour and Ballet Zürich. She has provided physiotherapy for major musicals such as Mary Poppins (2023), Rocky Horror Show (2023), Frozen the Musical (2022), and Hairspray the Musical (2023). Additionally, she has supported athletes from Sturt Football Club and North Melbourne AFL Club, as well as prominent Australian vocalists.
Her ongoing professional development and memberships with respected organisations — such as the Australian College of Physiotherapists, Australian Voice Association, and International Association of Dance Medicine — ensure that Bodycentric maintains the highest standards of care.
Bodycentric’s holistic approach combines hands-on therapy with movement analysis in a dedicated studio environment. This allows Melinda to assess and retrain movement patterns, improving how the body functions on muscular, joint, vascular, and nervous system levels. If you are a performer seeking expert care tailored to your art and health, Bodycentric offers unparalleled support and results.
