Brian Carroll Consultant Emergency Medicine Newcastle leads the trauma and emergency care services at the RVI’s Great North Trauma and Emergency Centre. He specialises in all forms of trauma care and medical emergencies. Additionally, he runs a dedicated soft tissue injuries clinic to provide focused treatment for patients.

Extensive Training and Experience of Brian Carroll Consultant Emergency Medicine Newcastle

Mr Brian Carroll completed his undergraduate medical training at Trinity College Dublin, graduating in 1994. Soon after, he moved to the North East of England in 1996 to start basic surgical training. By 1998, he transitioned into Accident and Emergency medicine, gaining valuable experience as a middle grade doctor. Over several years, he honed his skills in emergency medicine and earned a training post in the Northern Deanery in 2007.

Professional Achievements and Leadership in Emergency Medicine

In July 2012, he achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). He then took on a consultant role at the University Hospital of North Durham. There, he served as clinical lead for Trauma Care, overseeing the management and development of trauma services. His leadership helped improve patient outcomes and streamline emergency response processes.

Current Role and Teaching Commitments

Since September 2014, Mr Carroll has worked as a Consultant in the Emergency Department at the RVI. He actively contributes to medical education by teaching Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses throughout the region. Furthermore, he plans to serve as a regular examiner for the College of Emergency Medicine, ensuring the next generation of doctors meets high professional standards.
