Catriona Macleod Psychologist/Psychotherapist Inverness: Special Focus Areas

Catriona has a deep interest in working with individuals who have experienced early trauma. She understands how such experiences impact emotional, social, and personality development. By recognising the long-term effects of these early challenges, she supports clients in building resilience and achieving emotional well-being.

A Flexible and Collaborative Therapy Approach

Using evidence-based methods, Catriona tailors therapy to each person’s unique needs. Her approach integrates psychodynamic and person-centred perspectives. She combines these with therapies like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy. Additionally, she draws on Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Coaching techniques. This blend allows her to create a highly personalised and effective treatment plan.

Building Strong Therapeutic Relationships

Catriona believes that a trusting relationship between therapist and client forms the foundation for effective therapy. From the beginning, she works collaboratively to build a safe, supportive space. This foundation encourages openness and meaningful progress during therapy sessions.

Extensive Experience and Qualifications

Catriona’s professional journey spans more than three decades in NHS Mental Health Services. She initially trained as an occupational therapist before moving into psychotherapy. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Occupational Therapy and a Post-graduate qualification in Group Analysis.
