Charlotte Nolte is a dedicated Occupational Therapist at Strubensvalley Therapy Centre in Strubens Valley, Roodepoort. She earned her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of the Free State in 2000, and she began her career in 2001 at Lantern School, a specialized institution for learners with special educational needs. During her tenure there, she supported students from Grade 1 through Grade 12, refining her expertise in learning barriers and student engagement. In 2003, Charlotte advanced her qualifications by completing a Diploma in Learners with Barriers to Learning and Development at the University of Johannesburg, which certified her as a Learning Support Educator. Consequently, she combines academic insight with hands-on experience to design interventions that address each child’s unique learning profile.
Furthermore, Charlotte established her own private practice in Randfontein in 2003, where she provided part-time occupational therapy and learning support to pre-school children. She later relocated her focus to the Western Cape and joined Strubensvalley Therapy Centre in 2013. Since then, she has become a driving force in the Centre’s multi-disciplinary team, bringing expertise in learning difficulties, meta-cognition, and study skills. Moreover, Charlotte is certified to administer the Stark-Griffin Dyslexia Screening and Determination Tests, enabling her to deliver rigorous assessments for reading disorders. Therefore, families and schools benefit from her precise diagnostic acumen and her passionate commitment to each learner’s success.
Developmental Assessment & Therapy (0–4 Years)
Charlotte conducts early screenings of motor and cognitive milestones, using play-based observations to detect delays. Consequently, she crafts individualized intervention plans that combine fine-motor games with social and self-care exercises.
Motor & Perceptual Development
She designs targeted tasks—such as bead threading, obstacle-course navigation, and handwriting drills—to enhance fine and gross motor skills. Additionally, she employs adaptive equipment like therapy swings and balance boards to motivate children and reinforce coordination.
Sensory Integration Approach
In the Centre’s dedicated sensory gym, Charlotte guides children through structured sensory activities—such as textured tunnels and weighted vests—to regulate hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity. As a result, clients develop improved focus and emotional self-regulation.
Task-Centered Group Therapy
She facilitates small groups that tackle real-world tasks—such as cooking projects and gardening—to build functional life skills, social cooperation, and self-confidence. Moreover, these sessions encourage peer support and enhance communication.
DIR® Floortime
Charlotte coaches parents in Floortime strategies, engaging them in child-led play that strengthens emotional bonds and cognitive growth. Furthermore, she incorporates video-feedback to reinforce techniques at home.
Strubensvalley Therapy Centre provides a child-friendly environment featuring bright décor, natural light, and observation windows so caregivers can remain close without interrupting sessions. Furthermore, the Centre uses a secure digital portal that delivers clear progress dashboards, session summaries, and video snippets to families and educators. Consequently, everyone stays informed and actively involved in the therapeutic process.
Charlotte offers both in-person and telehealth follow-up sessions, which accommodate busy schedules and ensure continuity of care. Moreover, she schedules quarterly multidisciplinary case-review meetings to align classroom accommodations with therapy goals. Therefore, intervention plans evolve smoothly as children grow.
Her professional style combines warmth, structure, and collaboration. She invites children and caregivers to co-design goals, and she evaluates progress at each milestone. As a result, families feel empowered to support their child’s development.
