Welcome to the private practice of Chloë Chapman, an experienced EMDR therapist and qualified art psychotherapist based in Brighton and Hove. With a dual specialism in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and art psychotherapy, I provide a tailored, integrative approach to working through trauma, emotional distress, and psychological challenges.
I hold a Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton and am accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and an accredited member of EMDR UK. These affiliations reflect my commitment to maintaining the highest standards in clinical practice.
My therapy work centres around healing and empowerment, helping adults navigate the emotional complexities of trauma, depression, anxiety, and more. Whether short-term focused sessions or longer-term in-depth therapy, each programme is shaped around your unique needs.
EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to treat trauma and distressing life experiences. It works by helping the brain process unresolved traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements). EMDR is especially effective for PTSD, complex PTSD, childhood abuse, and medical trauma, among others.
I also offer Attachment-focused EMDR, addressing issues rooted in early relationships and attachment styles. This modality is particularly beneficial for individuals with longstanding relational difficulties and complex trauma histories.
Art therapy provides a creative and non-verbal way to explore thoughts and emotions. No artistic skill is required—art-making serves as a tool for expression when words alone may fall short. This method is particularly effective when working with difficult experiences that are hard to articulate.
In many cases, I integrate art therapy with EMDR to support a more embodied and holistic healing process.
I support individuals experiencing a range of difficulties, including:
Trauma and abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
Depression and anxiety
PTSD and complex PTSD
Attachment disturbance
Stress following accidents or acts of terrorism
Medical trauma
Effects of familial substance misuse
Over the past twelve years, I’ve worked therapeutically across a variety of settings including the NHS, charities, and private practice. My experience spans organisations such as Brighton and Hove CAMHS, Westminster MIND, FosterCareUK, and Sussex NHS Partnership. I also played a key role in developing the Young Women’s Therapy Service at Young Oasis, supporting vulnerable young adults affected by familial addiction.
My private practice is located on Ship Street in central Brighton, offering a calm and confidential environment. I am currently working towards becoming an EMDR consultant, reflecting my ongoing dedication to professional development and clinical excellence.
If you’re ready to take the next step towards healing, I welcome you to get in touch to discuss how we might work together.
