About Clifton House and LYPFT

Clifton House is part of the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT), a leading provider of mental health, learning disability, and neurodiversity services. The Trust mainly serves Leeds but also covers West Yorkshire, Humber & North Yorkshire, and parts of Northern England.

LYPFT’s mission is to improve the health and lives of local communities by delivering outstanding care. The Trust focuses on empowering people to achieve their personal goals. Clifton House supports this mission by offering specialist forensic mental health services in a secure and respectful environment.

With over 3,000 staff and around 100 volunteers, LYPFT combines expertise and compassion. Although the Trust has 407 inpatient beds, most care takes place in community settings. This approach helps patients maintain independence and live as close to home as possible.

Services Provided at Clifton House and LYPFT

LYPFT offers 39 different clinical services, including the forensic unit at Clifton House. This unit specialises in caring for people with complex mental health needs who often have links to the criminal justice system.

Beyond inpatient care, the Trust provides community support and crisis intervention. Staff work closely with patients using a person-centred approach. This encourages patients to engage actively in their care plans, which promotes recovery and self-determination.

Moreover, Clifton House works alongside various partner organisations in health, social care, and the justice system. This collaboration helps create comprehensive, integrated care tailored to individual needs. The Trust also adopts evidence-based treatments to ensure the highest quality care.
