Clinical Psychology North West England offers expert therapy, specialist assessments, and training. We deliver clear, compassionate support. Our chartered and registered clinical psychologists help you face emotional challenges.
Our team includes highly qualified clinical psychologists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and recognized by the British Psychological Society (BPS). We provide psychological therapy, medico-legal psychological assessments, and tailored training.
Dr Helen Beesley holds a BSc (Hons), a DClinPsychol, and is an Associate Fellow of the BPS. She has worked in clinical roles and research since she qualified in 2004. Now, in private practice, she offers both assessments and therapy in Liverpool and at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on the Wirral.
Helen specialises in clinical health psychology, helping people who face emotional challenges linked to illness or surgery. She supports patients through decisions about treatment, and she tackles issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and stress. Over the years, she has led research in this field. She also worked at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, building psychological services in their Breast Unit.
In addition, Helen has acted as an expert witness since 2014. She provides medico-legal assessments for court cases, producing detailed psychological reports on reactions to personal injury or clinical negligence.
Dr Frank Beesley earned his DClinPsychol after completing a BSc (Hons), and he is an Associate Fellow of the BPS. He brings decades of experience, including work in high-security mental health settings and community adult mental health teams.
At his NHS role, he led a team in Warrington with Five Boroughs NHS Partnership Trust. There, he conducted individual and group therapy, supervised other clinicians, and offered specialist training — for example, in personality disorder and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Before that, he worked in a hub service for personality disorder where he offered assessments and training for multidisciplinary teams.
Since 2012, Frank has provided medico-legal psychological assessments. He prepares reports for court in civil cases. His casework often covers psychological distress after trauma such as road traffic collisions, falls, or clinical negligence.
Jake holds a first-class BSc in Applied Psychology and an MRes in Psychological Research Methods. He works full time in a locked rehabilitation setting, supporting clients with mental health problems. At our practice, he leads service evaluation. He collects feedback and outcome data so we can check that our work is effective.
Sarah has been with our service since the very beginning. She brings deep experience from the legal and medico-legal fields. She is the friendly and efficient first point of contact, coordinating enquiries and helping clients to connect with us.
We offer one-to-one psychological therapy in a calm, supportive space. We help you understand difficult emotions and find a way forward. Our clinical psychologists guide you through emotional struggles like depression, anxiety, work stress, grief, trauma, and low self-esteem.
Sometimes emotional distress links directly to illness or injury. We support you by addressing that side of your experience. Whether you face chronic illness or are dealing with a medical diagnosis, we help you build coping strategies and resilience.
We complete expert psychological assessments for legal cases. Our reports support civil litigation, such as personal injury or clinical negligence. We provide a professional, efficient, and thoughtful service tailored to solicitors, agencies, and individual clients.
We design training sessions for health-care and legal professionals. Our programmes focus on psychological responses to illness, injury, and treatment. We aim to build greater understanding of the emotional side of health care.
