About Community Mental Health and Psychiatry Foundation (CMHP)

The Community Mental Health and Psychiatry Foundation (CMHP) provides psychiatric rehabilitation services across the greater Cape Town and Boland area. Specialising in long-term care and group homes, CMHP supports individuals with psychiatric diagnoses, focusing on Psychiatric Rehabilitation (PSR) principles. CMHP cares for over 300 clients across various housing and support facilities.

Services

CMHP offers:

• Long-Term Housing Facilities: Over 300 clients in diverse settings, including community-based homes, urban facilities, and a frail care centre.
• Daily Support Services: A team of 110+ employees assist in daily care.
• Community Mental Health Clinic: Located at the old Stikland Hospital, with satellite clinics in other facilities.
• Multidisciplinary Care: A team of social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, and support staff provides comprehensive care.
• Community Mental Health Academy: Caregiver training with one-year and two-year courses.

Additional Information

CMHP collaborates with the Department of Health, the Department of Social Development, and the “Help Your Neighbour Fund” to offer partial financial assistance to clients who cannot afford full fees.
