Clinical Psychologist Slough
- Slough, UK
I am a Clinical Psychologist in private practice. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and have been in private practice in Kempton Park, Johannesburg since 2002. I am fully bilingual and therapy is conducted in both English and Afrikaans.
herapy is not a “soft” option and it is usually people who are brave, who are willing to confront themselves, to face a problem and situation for what it is and to choose to not be blind or defensive about issues and problems in their past and in their lives. People who attend therapy are therefore not “crazy” or “not able to deal with their lives”, but rather the individuals who are willing to confront themselves, their lives, or their relationships.
Therapy is also not only the responsibility of the therapist to “fix” the client, to give you solutions and send you home. It is a context where both the patient and the client work together to find a co-constructed solution. It is not my place to tell you what to do or to judge you for whatever choices you make. I work from a basis of respect and also respecting the patient’s choices and feelings. I will, however, be straight forward or look at the consequences of certain choices.
The following quote says it best: “We know what we are but not what we may be”. Hopefully the psychotherapy process will challenge the patient to become what he/she may be!
