About Me

Choosing the right therapist is essential, not only for their training and experience but also for the personal connection you feel with them. Without this connection, therapy is unlikely to succeed or help you reach your goals. To help you decide, here is some information about me, my background, and my approach.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as an IT Manager and Director. While computers can have many problems, they don’t respond well to talking about their issues—unlike people. Early on, I discovered that talking was a powerful tool for those who use technology, which inspired me to change careers and train as a counsellor in 2005.

My previous career gives me insight into specific challenges many people face today. For example, I work well with clients struggling with online relationships, whether through social media, gaming, or other platforms. These interactions are often complex and emotional, and I do not consider them anti-social or unusual.

Supporting managers and team leaders is another area of my expertise. I help with issues such as difficult personnel, organisational challenges, hiring and disciplinary matters, redundancies, and personal transitions when taking on new leadership roles. Additionally, I offer guidance to those thinking about changing careers and facing the uncertainties involved.

Outside of counselling, I enjoy craft projects, singing, reading novels, board games, computer gaming, films, comedy, and science fiction. I maintain a strong sense of humour and believe serious matters do not have to be cold or soulless.

Services

I use a constructivist cognitive approach, which means I recognise that every client has unique experiences and views of the world. Therapy works best when it fits your personality and needs. You always decide which techniques or directions to try, ensuring your comfort and preferences come first.

My counselling services cover a wide range of personal and professional challenges. My training includes humanistic, person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and psychotherapy informed by research. This variety enables me to tailor sessions precisely to your needs.

Additional Information Counselling Worcestershire

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Humanistic, Person-centred Therapy) gained in 2008, which meets the minimum professional standard for practising counsellors. Later, I earned a Higher Diploma in Counselling (CBT) in 2010, equivalent to a foundation degree. In 2015, I completed a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapy, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.

To keep my skills current, I regularly attend workshops and engage in ongoing research. I am a Senior Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (NCPS) and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Both organisations uphold strict ethical codes that guide my practice.

Moreover, I am listed on two Accredited Registers approved by the UK Professional Standards Authority. This status guarantees high standards of safety and professionalism for my clients.

If you seek a counsellor who values connection, professionalism, and a personalised approach, please get in touch to discuss how I can support you.
