David Williams Psychotherapist Sussex welcomes you warmly. You deserve a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions. I focus on helping you feel comfortable and supported while addressing any issues, big or small. Consequently, I create an environment that encourages openness and trust.
When you begin counselling or therapy, you will notice a calm, structured approach. I act like a dependable friend—warm, loyal, and attentive—ensuring you feel understood. First, I explain how therapy works, helping you settle in quickly. Then, I ask you to share your concerns, which allows me to tailor support to your needs. Together, we set goals to maintain focus and achieve meaningful progress.
I regularly review your progress to ensure you gain the most from therapy. Therefore, I encourage an open and honest relationship. You will feel safe to express emotions fully, creating opportunities for growth. I take a collaborative approach: you lead the conversation while I guide you toward achieving your therapy goals. By maintaining focus, we work efficiently so you can leave therapy when ready.
I completed my 5-year UKCP-accredited psychotherapy training in 2005. Since then, I have earned a Masters Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a result, I adapt therapy to each client rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. We can combine counselling, psychotherapy, or pure Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) depending on your needs.
I hold a full-time Masters-level CBT qualification from the University of Sussex, accredited by the BABCP. This rigorous training allows me to treat complex disorders like schizophrenia, depression, panic, OCD, and anxiety. Importantly, my certification qualifies me to work in the NHS, providing evidence-based therapy for severe mental health challenges.
I specialise in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Negative thinking patterns often trigger emotional distress. By identifying and challenging these thoughts, we interrupt destructive cycles. Consequently, you gain control over your emotions, improve resilience, and achieve positive change. We work together to confront fears and develop healthier coping strategies.
Therapy is a collaborative journey. With Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, you learn to rewire your brain by forming new patterns of thinking and behavior. As we progress, you gain clarity, empowerment, and practical strategies for lasting change. Ultimately, my goal is to help you leave therapy equipped, confident, and ready to thrive.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey toward mental wellness.
