I am Donna Lloyd, a qualified counsellor with over 20 years of experience in mental health services. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in a variety of mental health settings, including mental health charities, drug and alcohol services, and the NHS. My background has equipped me with invaluable experience in helping individuals find emotional resolution and navigate through challenging circumstances.
I am deeply passionate about providing support to those in need and have spent many years honing my skills to offer effective, compassionate therapy. Alongside my private practice, I currently work in a specialist trauma service, where I help individuals dealing with complex and difficult issues.
I offer a wide range of therapeutic services designed to address a variety of emotional and psychological struggles. My approach is person-centred, meaning I tailor the therapy to each individual’s unique needs. Whether you’re dealing with a specific issue or looking to improve your overall well-being, I am here to help.
In individual therapy, I work with clients to explore and address a variety of concerns. Common issues that I work with include:
Abuse (emotional, physical, or sexual)
Addiction (substance abuse, behavioural addictions)
Anxiety (general anxiety, panic attacks, phobias)
Depression (low mood, sadness, hopelessness)
Trauma (including PTSD, childhood trauma, and emotional trauma)
Eating Disorders (including anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating)
Self-esteem Issues (lack of confidence, negative self-image)
Relationship Difficulties (communication problems, conflicts)
Grief and Loss (bereavement, loss of identity, or life transitions)
Sexuality Issues (exploring sexual identity or concerns)
Work-related Stress (burnout, job dissatisfaction)
I also specialise in helping clients dealing with chronic pain, chronic fatigue, dissociation, and obsessive-compulsive behaviours (OCD). Each session is designed to be a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings.
As a specialist in trauma therapy, I understand the deep and lasting impact trauma can have on an individual’s life. I work with clients to process and heal from traumatic events, providing a space to address unresolved issues that may be impacting day-to-day functioning. Trauma therapy can help with:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Sexual violence and abuse
Childhood trauma and neglect
Coping with overwhelming life experiences
Through a combination of therapeutic techniques and empathetic listening, we work together to address the emotional scars caused by trauma and work towards healing.
In addition to face-to-face sessions, I also offer online therapy. This is especially useful for clients who are unable to attend in person due to distance, mobility issues, or other reasons. Online therapy allows for flexibility, ensuring that therapy is accessible no matter where you are.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work according to their strict code of ethics, ensuring that every session is conducted with professionalism, respect, and confidentiality. My practice is committed to offering a compassionate and non-judgmental space for individuals from all walks of life.
