Dr Behzad B Basit Consultant psychiatrist London brings decades of diverse, hands-on experience in mental health care. With a solid foundation in medicine, psychotherapy, and psychiatry, he offers expert diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of various psychiatric conditions. These include anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, OCD, bipolar affective disorder, and ADHD. Moreover, he focuses on how physical health interacts with mental well-being—an essential part of his comprehensive approach.
Dr Basit began his medical journey after ranking in the top 0.03% in Iran’s national university entrance exam. He studied medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences on a full scholarship and later worked as a general practitioner. Always motivated to serve and grow, he joined Doctors Without Borders and completed humanitarian missions in Kenya and Georgia.
His UK-based training includes CCT in both Old Age Psychiatry and General Adult Psychiatry. He is a proud Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). Additionally, he holds diplomas in Mental Health Studies and Healthcare Management, enhancing both his clinical and leadership capabilities.
Dr Basit’s experience spans across three continents. This global exposure gives him a deep understanding of cultural diversity in mental health. He combines a holistic, biopsychosocial model with evidence-based practices, making every consultation personalised and impactful. This well-rounded approach allows him to evaluate not just symptoms, but the full spectrum of a patient’s life.
Over the years, Dr Basit has refined his expertise in cognitive disorders and associated capacity evaluations. He also focuses on adult ADHD diagnosis and treatment. His practice includes comprehensive assessments and integrated care plans tailored to individual needs. Furthermore, his training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy adds depth to his therapeutic interventions.
Teaching and research are integral to Dr Basit’s practice. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and an Honorary Visiting Associate at King’s College London. His passion for teaching ensures that his clinical knowledge remains current and evidence-based.
