Dr Grey completed his medical degree at the University of Pretoria in 2002 and developed a passion for orthopaedics during his community service at Ngwelezane Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. He went on to work in accident and emergency units in the UK before returning to South Africa to specialise in orthopaedics. He earned his Fellowship from the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa in 2012 and later completed a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

His expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery was further refined through a one-year fellowship at Groote Schuur Hospital, where he trained under Professors Steve Roche and Basil Vrettos.
