Dr Ben Grey is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as general orthopaedic trauma. With over a decade of experience in orthopaedics, Dr Grey has trained both locally and internationally, ensuring that his patients receive world-class care.
Dr Grey completed his medical degree at the University of Pretoria in 2002 and developed a passion for orthopaedics during his community service at Ngwelezane Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. He went on to work in accident and emergency units in the UK before returning to South Africa to specialise in orthopaedics. He earned his Fellowship from the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa in 2012 and later completed a Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
His expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery was further refined through a one-year fellowship at Groote Schuur Hospital, where he trained under Professors Steve Roche and Basil Vrettos. During this time, he gained extensive experience in arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgery, including joint replacement procedures.
Dr Grey has been in private practice since 2017 and is currently based at Life Kingsbury Hospital in Claremont. He continues to contribute to orthopaedic research, has published in national and international medical journals, and frequently presents at orthopaedic conferences.
He is a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association and the South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Association.
