Dr. Casey McCusker (Powell) is a dedicated Anatomical Pathologist practicing at Dr KF Histopathology in Parktown North, Randburg. She earned her MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2009 and completed her internship at Addington Hospital. She also carried out community service at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. Later, she began her specialized training in Anatomical Pathology at NHLS Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital/UKZN and completed her fellowship at NHLS Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. In May 2019, she earned her FC Path (Anat) SA and MMed (Anat Path). Consequently, she has built a strong reputation for delivering accurate and timely diagnoses that improve patient outcomes.
After her fellowship, Dr. McCusker joined the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH) in the Pathology Department. There, she reported surgical pathology from Limpopo and cardio-thoracic biopsies from Johannesburg hospitals. Moreover, she conducted autopsies of ex-miners for compensable lung disease. Additionally, she collaborated with Dr. Kirstin Fearnhead on her MMed research project titled “Adenomyoepithelioma of the breast: a single-institution study of 17 cases.” Together, they navigated both professional challenges and personal milestones, including their journey into motherhood in 2017. Since February 2022, she has been the second pathologist at Dr KF Histopathology, where her expertise further enhances diagnostic services.
