Dr Claire McDonald Clinical Psychologist London offers a unique blend of compassion, professionalism, and expertise. As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Corporate and Wellness Lead, she brings a wealth of experience from both public and private sectors. Her approach combines advanced training with a genuine passion for client well-being.
Dr McDonald earned her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from University College Dublin. She completed a Master of Science in Neuroscience at Goldsmith’s College, University of London, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, again from University College Dublin—all with first-class honours. These achievements reflect her dedication and academic excellence.
With over a decade of experience, she has helped clients address a wide range of mental health concerns. These include depression, anxiety, burnout, trauma (PTSD & CPTSD), addiction, dissociative disorders, and relationship issues. Her work focuses on both individuals and couples.
Dr McDonald is trained in several leading therapeutic approaches. These include Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. She also integrates mindfulness-based techniques such as Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
She works collaboratively with her clients, helping them uncover root causes of distress. As a result, clients often experience meaningful and lasting change. Dr McDonald holds membership in the EMDR Association UK and contributes to ongoing research in neuroscience, personality disorders, and employee well-being.
Dr McDonald has held senior clinical roles across Ireland and the UK. During her time in the NHS, she developed and led an Occupational Health Psychology service at King’s College Hospital in London. This initiative supported frontline staff during the Covid-19 pandemic and became part of an award-winning wellbeing programme.
Previously, she worked at the Maudsley Hospital, supporting adults with complex mental health issues. Additionally, she provided training and reflective practice sessions for staff in acute care settings. Her leadership has consistently improved team functioning and resilience.
In 2024, Dr McDonald joined the Chelsea Psychology Clinic as Corporate and Wellness Lead. This role aligns with her commitment to enhancing well-being across individuals, teams, and organisations. Since 2019, she has contributed to the design and implementation of the clinic’s wellness retreats—bespoke programmes that empower lasting psychological growth.
