He first qualified in Medicine and Surgery in 1981 at King’s College Hospital in South London. After that, he trained in General Surgery across London and Wessex, especially in Southampton. During this period, he also started practicing intermittently at the Royal South Hants Hospital.

Dr Rew has built an exceptional career. From 1994 to 1999, he served as a Senior Lecturer in General Surgery at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. Later, he led the final general surgical firm at Royal South Hants Hospital until its transfer to Princess Anne Hospital.

In 1999, he became a full-time NHS Consultant General Surgeon in Southampton. His specialisation includes breast and endocrine surgeries. As a result, he has successfully completed over 5,000 breast and 1,000 thyroid operations.

Military and National Recognition

In addition to his civilian career, Dr Rew served in the military from 1975 to 2018. He completed deployments in the Gulf and Afghanistan. In recognition of his service, he received the QVRM in 2015.
