Additionally, he obtained his FC Ophth SA in 2017 after serving at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and Heidelberg Hospital. Moreover, he founded the Vision 4 Life programme to provide eye care and surgery to underprivileged patients. Consequently, Dr Tayob stays current with advanced techniques by attending workshops such as the European Vitreo-Retinal Training School. Outside work, he enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time with family, which reflects his balanced, patient-focused approach.
Comprehensive Eye Examinations
Dr Tayob uses slit-lamp biomicroscopy, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and digital fundus photography to detect early glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Therefore, he devises customized management plans to preserve vision.
Cataract Surgery
Utilizing modern phacoemulsification equipment and premium intraocular lenses (IOLs)—including multifocal and toric options—he performs minimally invasive cataract extraction, which often results in faster recovery and reduced discomfort.
Glaucoma Management
By combining OCT of the optic nerve head with visual field analysis, he diagnoses glaucoma at an early stage. Moreover, he performs trabeculectomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) to preserve vision and control intraocular pressure.
Medical and Surgical Retinal Services
Dr Tayob treats diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vein occlusions with anti-VEGF intravitreal injections and laser photocoagulation. Additionally, he performs pars plana vitrectomy using micro-incision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS) for complex cases such as vitreous hemorrhages and macular holes.
Refractive Surgery
He provides LASIK and PRK using state-of-the-art excimer and femtosecond lasers, customizing corneal ablation profiles to help patients achieve spectacle independence while minimizing complications.
Corneal Procedures & Pterygium Excision
Using precise conjunctival autografting, Dr Tayob manages pterygium to reduce recurrence rates and restore ocular surface health. Furthermore, he performs corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, ensuring optimal outcomes.
Neuro-Ophthalmology
By collaborating with neurologists, he evaluates and manages optic neuropathies, papilledema, and cranial nerve palsies, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to complex eye–brain conditions.
Diabetic Eye Disease Management
Dr Tayob emphasizes early detection and intervention for diabetic eye disease. Consequently, he offers diabetic retinopathy screening and tailored treatment plans—including anti-VEGF therapy—to preserve patients’ vision and quality of life.
