About Dr. Ian Lorimer

Dr. Ian Lorimer is a skilled general surgeon with a broad range of interests in gastroenterology, oncology, and laparoscopic surgery. Based at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Dr. Lorimer also consults and performs surgeries at Kingsbury Hospital. He graduated MB ChB from the University of Zimbabwe in 1990 and began his surgical training at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo. Dr. Lorimer furthered his training at Groote Schuur Hospital, where he was awarded the Lennox-Gordon Prize in 1999.

In 2001, he earned his Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa and pursued additional post-fellowship training in Transplantation Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and Surgical Oncology. Dr. Lorimer took up his first consultant appointment in 2003. He was the Senior Specialist and Head of Surgery at Victoria Hospital and Eersterivier Hospital before establishing his private practice.

Dr. Lorimer’s diverse interests extend beyond surgery. A former Zimbabwe A cricket player, he also played violin for the National Symphony Orchestra. Today, he enjoys hiking, tennis, golf, and is actively involved as a Church Elder at Stellenberg Community Church in Pinelands.
