Dr Jim Naude Diagnostic Medicine Claremont is a leading specialist practice in public health and occupational medicine. Dr Naude is an independent practitioner with extensive experience in clinical medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health. He qualified at the University of Cape Town and the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. His expertise spans teaching, research, and medical practice across various sectors in South Africa.
He has practiced in rural, peri-urban, and urban areas across South Africa. He has worked in public, academic, and NGO sectors. Additionally, he has taught at diploma and master’s levels and examined at the fellowship level. His research focuses on occupational and environmental exposure, particularly the effects of dust on mineworkers. Moreover, he has presented and published internationally in these areas.
His research includes the analysis of occupational diseases in mining and industry. Dr Naude has led a randomized clinical trial in tuberculosis and contributed to two large cross-sectional studies on manganese and gold miners. Furthermore, he is actively involved in independent medical practice, focusing on asbestos-related diseases.
Dr Naude is committed to serving those affected by occupational diseases. He is the medical manager of the Asbestos Relief Trust in South Africa, which compensates victims of asbestos-related illnesses. In addition, he serves on the Board of the International Mesothelioma Interest Group and chairs the Trustees of the South African Mesothelioma Interest Group.
