About Dr McGowan

Dr Oliver McGowan is a highly experienced radiation oncologist dedicated to providing personalised cancer care. With a strong academic background and years of clinical practice, he focuses on guiding patients through their treatment journey with expertise and compassion.

Originally from the Eastern Cape, Dr McGowan completed his schooling and undergraduate medical training in Natal, qualifying in 2004. After completing his internship in Cape Town, he found his passion for oncology during his community service in the Department of Oncology. This experience shaped his commitment to supporting patients through the complexities of cancer treatment.

Before specialising, Dr McGowan spent three years working internationally—first in Australia for a year, followed by two years in Ireland. This global exposure not only enriched his medical expertise but also broadened his perspective, allowing him to bring international best practices to his work.

Upon returning to South Africa in 2010, he pursued specialist training in Radiation Oncology and became a Fellow of the College of Radiation Oncologists of South Africa in 2014. After six years in private practice, he joined the Oncology Centre at Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital, where he continues to provide advanced and individualised cancer treatments.
