Dr Petrus NJ Gous – Ophthalmologist – Arcadia practices at the Pretoria Eye Institute. He earned his MBChB (Cum Laude) from the University of Pretoria in 1986 and then completed his MMed (Ophth) (Cum Laude) in 1994 . In addition, he obtained his FCS (Ophth) SA in 1995, formally establishing his expertise .
Furthermore, Dr Gous pursued a Clinical Fellowship in Glaucoma at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, under Prof Mike van Buskirk in 1996 . He then served as Senior Registrar in Glaucoma and trained in Oculoplastic Surgery at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK, under Mr Steven Vernon and Mr Richard Downes .
Since 1996, he has practiced privately at the Pretoria Eye Institute, delivering expert, compassionate care. Moreover, he has held leadership roles as Founder Member and Past President of the South African Glaucoma Society. Additionally, he served the South African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons in similar capacities, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and professional development.
