Dr Rebecca Slinn Consultant Psychiatrist Bristol brings over two decades of expertise to her practice. She began her consultant career in 2001, working in both the NHS and the independent sector. Since 2010, she has run a thriving private practice, offering personalised psychiatric care for adults of all ages. Her clinical base has included Scotland, Gloucestershire, and Bristol, where she is currently based.
She combines medical insight with compassion. Over the years, Dr Slinn has supported patients facing a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions. Furthermore, she provides expert opinion for legal cases, capacity assessments, and occupational health consultations.
With more than 20 years in psychiatry, Dr Slinn has honed her skills across various mental health services. Initially trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, she then completed her psychiatric training in the South West of England. Her dual accreditation in general adult and old age psychiatry allows her to treat individuals aged 18 and over. This broad expertise ensures a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Rebecca Slinn Consultant Psychiatrist Bristol has a deep interest in older adult psychiatry. She focuses particularly on conditions like dementia, memory problems, and late-onset mood disorders. Importantly, she believes early intervention can improve quality of life, and she works closely with families to ensure ongoing support. Her time as National Lead for Dementia at the Priory in 2015–2016 highlights her authority in this field.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Slinn supports employee wellbeing in large organisations. She collaborates with occupational health services to provide timely interventions for workplace-related mental health challenges. Moreover, her medico-legal work includes expert witness reports, capacity assessments, and tribunal opinions. As a result, she is a trusted voice in both healthcare and legal spheres.
Dr Slinn treats a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. She also supports individuals with personality disorders, eating disorders, and substance dependence. Her approach is always evidence-based and person-centred. Consequently, patients receive tailored treatment plans that meet their unique needs.
Dr Slinn is actively engaged in research. Her publications cover topics such as suicidal ideation in dementia and therapy for self-harm. She contributes to the development of psychiatric care through both academic work and clinical leadership. Therefore, her practice reflects current best standards in the field.
Dr Slinn believes in empowering her patients. She provides clear information and collaborative treatment plans. Her goal is to help individuals make informed decisions and reclaim control over their mental health. This philosophy underpins every aspect of her work.
