Dr Sharon Williams is a highly skilled Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist based in Overkloof, Cape Town, with over 30 years of experience in the field. She obtained her MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1986 and gained valuable experience during her elective period in Plastic Surgery and Child Psychiatry at Harvard University in 1984.
Dr Williams began her medical career with an internship at the renowned Baragwanath Hospital (now Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital) in 1987. She then worked at several prominent teaching hospitals in the Johannesburg and Gauteng areas before moving to Cape Town, where she has built her private practice.
She completed her Otorhinolaryngology training at Groote Schuur Hospital in 1994 and received the ENT Registrar’s prize in 1992. Dr Williams also spent two months at the Vrye University in Amsterdam, where she worked in Professor Snow’s Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery unit, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to research on molecular biology and its applications in head and neck cancer.
Dr Williams’ education and training, combined with her ongoing commitment to learning, have shaped her into a knowledgeable and compassionate ENT surgeon. Her particular interests include Paediatric ENT, hearing loss, vertigo, the professional voice, and allergic rhinitis. She also embraces a holistic approach to medicine, having completed a Certificate Course in Integrative Medicine in 2010 at the University of Stellenbosch.
