East Team – Forward Thinking Birmingham
About
East Team Forward Thinking Birmingham is a vibrant mental health service supporting children, young people, and families across Birmingham. We work with people aged 0–25, offering care through one joined-up organisation. This makes it easier for you to access the right support, exactly when you need it.
We are part of a broader partnership of NHS services, voluntary organisations, and community groups. Together, we aim to make mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and effective.
Importantly, we believe in working alongside the people we serve. We value lived experience, collaboration, and clear communication. Whether you’re facing emotional struggles, family issues, or mental health conditions, we are here to help—without judgment.
Services
We support a wide range of mental health concerns. Because everyone’s needs are different, we provide tailored support and flexible care plans. Our services include help with:
Low mood and depression
Anxiety and panic
Loneliness and isolation
Unhelpful or overwhelming thoughts
Relationship or family challenges
Neurodiverse needs and behavioural concerns
Furthermore, we work closely with local schools, youth groups, and healthcare providers. This joined-up approach ensures you feel supported not only in therapy but also in everyday life.
In addition, we include peer support workers in our team. For example, Clare Gratrix, our autism peer support worker, brings both expertise and personal insight. She recently won a gold medal at the World Masters Athletics Championship—showing that healing and growth take many forms.
Additional Information
Our work doesn’t stop at clinical care. Through projects like Think4Brum, we give young people the chance to lead, speak out, and shape mental health services. For instance, Lillia Barnaby-Fuller, Chair of Think4Brum, recently shared her powerful views on womanhood for International Women’s Day.
We also host events and conferences that highlight learning and collaboration. Earlier this year, we brought together international nurses and healthcare professionals for our “Sharing and Learning” conference.
