Hello, I’m Elaine, a qualified therapist with over 20 years of experience in the field. I hold an MA in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which I completed in 2003. I have worked extensively as a Senior Counsellor in a university setting and run my private counselling practice. In addition to this, I collaborate with several Employee Assistance Providers, supporting individuals in the workplace.
Before entering the counselling field, I worked as a Registered Nurse and Midwife. This background has significantly influenced my therapy practice, allowing me to approach clients’ issues with a well-rounded perspective. I obtained my first Counselling Post Graduate Diploma in 1998 and have continually developed my expertise. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
Therapy should meet the unique needs of each individual. My approach is flexible and tailored to the person, not the other way around. By adapting my methods, I ensure that each client receives the support that best fits their situation. This allows me to offer a variety of therapeutic services, ensuring that I can assist individuals in finding positive outcomes.
At EP Therapies, I offer a range of services to address different challenges that individuals may face. From anxiety and stress to trauma and personal growth, I tailor my approach to suit each client’s needs.
CBT is an effective, evidence-based approach for addressing anxiety, depression, and stress. It focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns. By working together, we can challenge unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more positive and productive ones.
In addition to CBT, I offer Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a powerful tool for emotional healing. EFT combines elements of cognitive therapy and acupuncture, making it particularly useful for addressing trauma, stress, and emotional blockages. This technique helps clients process difficult emotions and achieve relief.
I have extensive experience with Hypnotherapy, which I have integrated into my counselling practice since earning a Post Graduate Clinical Diploma in 2012. Hypnotherapy can help clients manage stress, improve sleep, and address phobias, as well as other deep-rooted emotional issues. I am a registered member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, ensuring high professional standards in my practice.
Hypnobirthing is an area where I have specialised since 2015. This method helps women navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and post-birth challenges. I was trained by Katheryn Graves, with accreditation from the Royal College of Midwives. My background as a former midwife allows me to offer empathetic and knowledgeable support during these significant life events.
I provide trauma-focused therapy, combining CBT, EFT, and Hypnotherapy to help clients process and heal from past traumatic experiences. These approaches are highly effective in addressing the emotional impact of trauma, supporting clients in regaining control and finding peace.
Creating a safe and supportive environment is at the heart of my practice. I work to establish a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship with all my clients. This ensures that you feel comfortable and respected during our sessions.
My practice is fully insured, and I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, ensuring your safety and confidentiality. I am also a registered member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), a body that upholds high standards for therapeutic practice.
Whether you are dealing with a specific issue such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, or you seek personal development, I am here to help. If you’re ready to take the next step, contact me today to schedule an initial consultation.
