Welcome to Emma Hegarty Physiotherapy, where personalised care and expert treatment meet to help you recover and maintain an active, pain-free lifestyle. Emma’s dedication to patient care and her extensive background in neuromusculoskeletal, sports, and orthopaedic physiotherapy ensures you receive the best care possible to achieve lasting recovery.
Emma Hegarty graduated with a BSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of Cape Town in 2016. She gained extensive experience during her community service year at Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth, working across a wide range of physiotherapy areas. Following this, Emma completed her dry needling qualification in 2017, further enhancing her skill set.
Emma’s career took her to UCT Private Academic Hospital, where she worked with specialists in both acute and outpatient settings, providing treatment for complex conditions. In 2020, Emma expanded her expertise by becoming a qualified Matwork Pilates teacher through the Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute.
Her passion for neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy led her to train under Jane Soderlund-Moore, one of Cape Town’s top physiotherapists, at a private practice in Constantia. There, Emma honed her skills in sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy, receiving guidance that strengthened her approach to treatment.
Emma’s commitment to professional development continued with her completion of the Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy Course in 2022 through University of Witwatersrand, further refining her abilities in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Emma and her husband, Ryan, have recently relocated to Blouberg, where they plan to establish roots in the community and offer exceptional physiotherapy care.
In her personal life, Emma is an active individual with a background in ballet, modern dance, Irish dancing, netball, and athletics. She is currently enjoying Pilates, running, and padel, while also supporting Ryan in his cycling and running races.
