Dr Genevieve McMorran-Young holds a BA (Hons), PhD, and DClinPsy. She also maintains registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. She combines strong academic training with hands-on experience across different NHS teams. Therefore, clients benefit from both her scientific knowledge and her clinical insight.
Genevieve has developed her career within CAMHS services, where she worked in therapeutic teams and Neurodevelopmental Assessment services. She understands the needs of children and adults with autism and ADHD. Consequently, she adapts her therapeutic approach to meet individual requirements. She also supports parents and carers, recognising the importance of family relationships in recovery.
Genevieve McMorran-Young Clinical Psychologist Huddersfield has a particular interest in supporting individuals who experienced trauma. She worked in specialist trauma teams and received training in evidence-based therapies. These include Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). As a result, she helps people process difficult experiences safely and with compassion.
Genevieve primarily practices Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). However, she continues to expand her expertise and is completing training towards BABCP accreditation. She also integrates systemic models, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Therefore, clients receive tailored support that fits their unique needs. Her areas of focus include anxiety, low mood, OCD, and PTSD.
Genevieve always balances professionalism with a warm and approachable style. She values humour and lightness when therapy feels challenging. She listens carefully and ensures mutual respect forms the foundation of her work. With this balanced approach, clients feel understood and supported while making meaningful progress.
