Hayley van Zwanenberg Consultant Psychiatrist Oxford has operated a private clinic since 2012, fully dedicating herself to outpatient practice since 2019. She helps young people under 18 who need mental health assessment and treatment by a specialist child and adolescent psychiatrist. Specifically, she supports neurodiverse young people requiring assessments for conditions like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or autism. Moreover, she treats ADHD, sometimes using medication when clinically necessary, and addresses common autism-related issues such as anxiety.
Hayley enjoys assisting young people with various anxiety disorders. These include social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She also helps young people who struggle with sleep disturbances caused by their mental health challenges. Her approach combines medical treatment with strong links to therapists at Priory wellbeing centres. This network allows her to organise a full range of therapies necessary for recovery, offering comprehensive care that combines therapy and medication if needed.
Dr van Zwanenberg joined Priory in 2012 as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Woodbourne. Early on, she worked on the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) inpatient wards. By the end of 2012, she became medical director of Woodbourne and shortly after, took the same role at Priory Hospital Nottingham. Her leadership expanded in 2016 when she became clinical director for Priory’s national wellbeing centres network. In 2017, she was promoted to group associate medical director and Priory’s responsible officer. However, in 2019, she stepped back from these roles to focus solely on her outpatient clinic.
Hayley van Zwanenberg Consultant Psychiatrist Oxford graduated from The University of Nottingham Medical School in 1999 with an MBBS degree. She earned her Master of Medical Science (MMedSci) postgraduate degree in 2005. After completing psychiatry specialty training, she achieved Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) status in 2004. Since 2010, she has worked as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist, initially with the NHS in Oxford and then at Priory from 2012 onwards.
