Health Works is a peaceful and professional acupuncture and sports injury clinic located in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. With a focus on complementary and alternative health care, the clinic serves clients across the Staffordshire Moorlands, Stoke-on-Trent, Cheshire, and Shropshire.

The clinic is led by Susan Whitney, a highly experienced Traditional Acupuncturist and Sports Massage Practitioner. Susan holds BSc and MSc degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Complementary & Natural Medicine (ICNM) and the British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP). In addition, she is the UK Representative for the American Liberty University (ALU) and a Fellow of the Sports Massage Association (SMA).

With over 12 years of experience running her own practice, Susan works with both the general public and other healthcare professionals. Her approach combines traditional techniques with evidence-based understanding to provide holistic, effective treatments.

Acupuncture for Pain and Chronic Conditions
Acupuncture at Health Works aims to relieve a wide range of conditions, particularly back pain and symptoms of arthritis. Treatments can ease joint pain, inflammation, stiffness, and muscle wasting. Electroacupuncture is also available. It is often used for neurological disorders, muscle spasms, and pain relief. Moreover, studies show it can help manage acne, renal colic, and cancer-related nausea. This technique also stimulates the endorphin system, which may lower blood pressure and improve heart health.

Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture
This treatment uses ancient Eastern techniques to restore facial vitality. It targets signs of ageing such as sagging skin and fine lines. The procedure involves applying acupuncture to both the body and face, often with facial massage or fine needle insertion. Visible results usually appear after 8 to 10 weekly sessions. To maintain these benefits, top-up treatments every 3 to 6 months are advised.

Auricular Acupuncture for Addiction Support
Health Works offers auricular acupuncture following the NADA protocol. This method is used worldwide to support people recovering from substance abuse. It helps with detoxification and eases the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of addiction.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a gentle therapy that uses small glass cups to create suction on the skin. The technique draws the skin and superficial muscle layer into the cup, offering a deeply relaxing sensation. The cups may remain in place for around ten minutes, or be moved in a method known as “gliding cupping.” Unlike massage, which applies pressure, cupping gently lifts the muscle tissue.
