Welcome to Inner Reach Therapy. I’m Caroline Kitching, a qualified counsellor based in York, and I’m glad you’ve found your way here. With many years of experience supporting people through mental health difficulties, I offer a safe and understanding space for clients from all walks of life.
I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma—including domestic abuse and sexual violence—low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and more complex issues. My practice is neurodivergence and LGBTQQIA+ affirmative, meaning I am mindful and respectful of diverse identities and experiences at all times.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming—like preparing for a marathon—but together, we will take those first vital steps towards improved mental health and wellbeing. I am committed to walking this journey with you.
I provide both face-to-face counselling at my private therapy room in Tower Court, Oakdale Road, York, and online sessions. My location is fully accessible for wheelchair users, offers free parking during sessions, and is well served by local bus routes.
My approach blends evidence-based techniques, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care. These methods help clients challenge negative thought patterns, manage trauma, and build resilience.
Key areas I support include:
Trauma Counselling: Gentle, supportive therapy for those who have experienced trauma, domestic abuse, or sexual violence. Together, we will work towards managing trauma’s effects and regaining control.
Depression Therapy: Offering treatments proven effective in lifting depression, helping you rediscover joy and motivation.
Neurodivergence Support: I provide a validating, empathic space for neurodivergent individuals and their partners. I help strengthen relationships and promote wellbeing while honouring unique strengths.
Relationship Counselling: I work with individuals to improve communication, understand relational patterns, and enhance connections with family and friends. (Please note, I do not provide couples therapy.)
Stress Management: Together, we explore personalised strategies to reduce stress and support mental and physical health.
I hold a postgraduate degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, an honours degree in Forensic Psychology, and additional qualifications in self-harm and suicide prevention, and neurodivergence awareness. My broader academic background includes degrees in History and Agriculture with Animal Science.
I also provide specialised support for clients in the farm and rural sectors via a related service—please visit Farm and Country Counselling for details.
At Inner Reach Therapy, my mission is to empower you towards a better quality of life. I strive to create a compassionate, welcoming environment where you feel heard, supported, and encouraged to grow. If you are ready to take the next step, please get in touch to arrange a confidential conversation.
