Professor Spyridopoulos earned his MD at Hannover Medical School, Germany, in 1992. Soon after, he trained extensively in clinical cardiology and research at Tübingen, Germany, and Tufts University in Boston, USA. Between 2002 and 2008, he served as Assistant Professor and Interventional Cardiologist at Goethe University Frankfurt. In 2008, he became Chair of Cardiovascular Gerontology at Newcastle University and has been an Honorary Consultant for Interventional Cardiology at Freeman Hospital ever since.
Professor Spyridopoulos holds a Fellowship with the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), reflecting his recognized expertise. Moreover, he directs the Newcastle University Cardiovascular Research Centre. His research centers on understanding how the immune system influences atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.
