James Twiddy Therapist Manchester offers a compassionate, experienced, and structured therapeutic approach to mental wellness. With more than 2,000 hours of client sessions, James supports people through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. His work spans both private practice and charitable organizations, ensuring he brings well-rounded, real-world experience to every session.
James graduated in 2017 as a psychodynamic counsellor and later earned a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2021. He uses an integrative therapy model. This allows him to tailor each session to the client’s needs. He explores how past experiences shape current behaviour without assuming direct causality.
His method empowers clients to notice patterns and shift their emotional responses. In doing so, they gain tools to make confident, healthier life choices. For many, this can lead to powerful breakthroughs.
James has worked with a wide range of presentations, including complex bereavement, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, he brings a deep understanding of working with clients in the LGBTQ+ community, those living with chronic illness, and individuals navigating neurodivergence such as autism or ADHD.
He also supports people experiencing:
OCD
Bipolar disorder
Postnatal depression
Work-related stress
Childhood trauma and abuse
Gender dysphoria
PTSD and trauma
Because of this extensive background, James can meet clients where they are emotionally, with empathy and focus.
Since March 2021, James has worked as a sessional online therapist with The Priory. He sees outpatient clients referred through major health insurance providers. This experience allows him to deliver focused, time-limited therapy, all within structured clinical guidelines.
James believes in lifelong learning. He consistently builds on his knowledge to better serve his clients. He completed training in couples counselling and holds accreditation from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
