Jane Masson Psychologist Kent brings a thoughtful, experienced approach to adult mental health. She sees each client as a unique individual and approaches every session with empathy, curiosity, and warmth. Rather than treating symptoms alone, Jane helps her clients explore the deeper sources of their struggles. Through a collaborative and insightful process, she works alongside clients to enhance their wellbeing and improve their quality of life.
What sets Jane Masson Psychologist Kent apart is her dual background. Before qualifying as a clinical psychologist, Jane trained and worked as a neuropsychologist. This dual expertise gives her a deeper understanding of complex mental health presentations. Consequently, she can appreciate both the emotional and neurological components of her clients’ difficulties. This combination leads to more thorough assessments and responsive interventions.
Jane’s therapeutic style is integrative, flexible, and rooted in both psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She adapts each session to the specific needs of the client, ensuring therapy is always relevant and effective. Whether working through trauma, adjusting to life changes, or addressing identity-related concerns, her methods remain client-centred. Because each person’s experience is different, she avoids a one-size-fits-all approach.
Over the years, Jane has worked with adults across various settings, including both inpatient and outpatient care. She supports individuals coping with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, existential issues, and relationship difficulties. Additionally, she helps those dealing with neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. Her work often includes patients facing insomnia, unexplained physical symptoms, or challenges related to chronic medical conditions.
Originally from South Africa, Jane recently joined The Priory as part of the Cedar therapy team. After receiving her HCPC registration in the UK, she now provides both group and individual therapy sessions. Her international background enhances her sensitivity to diverse client needs, helping her offer culturally informed care. Moreover, her professional journey continues to be shaped by a deep commitment to ethical, respectful practice.
Jane completed her clinical psychology degree in Cape Town. Her training took place at two tertiary hospitals—Groote Schuur Hospital and Valkenberg Hospital—where she also received her neuropsychology certification. In addition, she worked in a community clinic and spent a year providing care at a correctional centre. This wide-ranging clinical exposure built a strong foundation for her current work.
