About Us

Jenny de Klerk Physiotherapy & Pilates offers a comprehensive range of physiotherapy services in the scenic area of Tokai, Cape Town. With over 20 years of experience, Jenny de Klerk is a highly qualified physiotherapist dedicated to delivering exceptional care for musculoskeletal conditions, injury rehabilitation, and overall well-being.

Jenny holds a BSc (Phys) Degree from the University of Cape Town (2000) and has built an extensive career both in South Africa and the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa and the Health Professions Council of the United Kingdom, as well as the South African Society of Physiotherapy.

Her early career saw her working in Cape Town before moving to the UK, where she gained valuable experience in NHS hospitals. Jenny spent two years as a locum physiotherapist, learning from some of the finest clinicians. She then took up the position of Clinical Lead Physiotherapist at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital in 2003, where she worked for over eight years, honing her skills in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy. Jenny’s work in conjunction with local consultants helped develop her expertise in treating a range of physical ailments.

In 2011, Jenny returned to Cape Town, where she has continued to develop her expertise in physiotherapy. Since 2015, she has been based in Westlake and is now excited to have relocated her practice to Tokai, within the Southern Suburbs. Pilates classes are also offered in various venues across the area.

Manual Therapy

Acupuncture

Jenny is qualified in modern acupuncture, which targets specific nerve endings to reduce pain and muscle spasm. She also practices traditional Chinese acupuncture, a holistic approach that considers the balance of your body’s energy to restore overall well-being. Acupuncture is a beneficial therapy for managing chronic pain and enhancing recovery from injuries.

Pilates

As an APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) trained instructor, Jenny offers both individual sessions and group classes. Pilates exercises focus on the core muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve core stability, posture, and flexibility. This form of exercise is suitable for all fitness levels and ages, with particular benefits for those with back pain, poor posture, or recovering from pregnancy. Pilates classes are available at various times during the week, including:

  • Monday: 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 4:45 PM
  • Thursday: 9:00 AM

Exercise Programs

Individual exercise programmes are created for clients, focusing on strengthening and stretching to correct underlying muscle imbalances. These programmes aim to enhance physical performance, reduce pain, and prevent further injury. Each programme is tailored to suit the specific needs of the client, whether they are recovering from an injury or improving general fitness.
