Johan ter Horst Physiotherapist Maidstone brings dedication, skill, and energy to every session. Born in Ashford to a Dutch father and English mother, Johan grew up in Folkestone and attended the Harvey Grammar School. After school, he played professional football for Hull City and Maidstone for four years. Though injuries shortened his career, they introduced him to the world of physiotherapy and sparked his future path.
Johan’s personal experiences with injury shaped his passion for healing. These challenges didn’t hold him back—they inspired him. He trained at Canterbury Christ Church University for three years, qualifying with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. After graduation, he secured a permanent role at KIMS Hospital, a decision he cherishes.
Working at KIMS Hospital offers the perfect environment for Johan to thrive. The team spirit and supportive culture allow him to refine his clinical skills while delivering exceptional patient care. Whether you’re recovering from surgery or a sports injury, Johan ensures you feel supported every step of the way.
Johan completed valuable placements across multiple NHS trusts, including East Kent Hospitals, Kent Community Health, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells, and East Sussex Healthcare. These placements helped build his extensive clinical knowledge and shaped his practical approach to rehabilitation.
His passion lies in treating musculoskeletal injuries, sports-related trauma, and post-operative rehabilitation. Whether it’s helping an athlete return to form or supporting someone through post-surgery recovery, Johan remains hands-on, attentive, and proactive.
Outside the clinic, Johan embraces an active lifestyle. You’ll often find him playing five-a-side football, running, or training at the gym. His love for health and fitness extends into his work, ensuring he leads by example. Johan also enjoys coastal walks with his dog, Barney, and sharing laughs with friends. Despite being a loyal Charlton Athletic fan, he approaches each season with hopeful optimism.
