With a strong foundation in a wide range of therapeutic approaches, I offer counselling and mindfulness-based services rooted in over two decades of experience. My initial training encompassed psychodynamic therapy, CBT, behaviourism, cognitive therapy, Gestalt, and person-centred approaches. This broad base allows me to tailor support to your individual needs, integrating a variety of tools and perspectives.
I began studying psychotherapy in 1996 at the VolksUniversiteit in Amsterdam. A year later, I started practising under supervision and eventually returned to the UK to complete my training. In 2005, I was awarded an Advanced Diploma in Hypnosis and Psychotherapy by the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. My dissertation explored the use of hypnosis as a potential adjunct to cognitive behavioural therapies in treating depression.
Beyond my academic qualifications, mindfulness has played a central role in both my personal and professional development. Since my first formal meditation instruction in 1996, I have practised various forms of mindfulness and Buddhist-inspired meditation. This has significantly influenced my approach to therapy and well-being.
My counselling work blends established psychological theories with real-world sensibility. By combining techniques from CBT, Gestalt, and psychodynamic therapy with person-centred values, I help clients explore difficulties in a supportive and structured environment. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or significant life transitions, we’ll work together to foster clarity, resilience and growth.
I provide both individual and group MBCT sessions designed to help manage stress, anxiety, and depressive relapse. This evidence-based approach integrates mindfulness practices with cognitive behavioural strategies to enhance present-moment awareness and reduce negative thought patterns.
Since 2005, I’ve been teaching MBCT in Bath. I completed my teacher development training at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (University of Wales, Bangor) and later underwent further training with Exeter University. My experience includes working with postgraduate students, university staff, and professionals across various disciplines.
As a recognised member of the Exeter Mindfulness Network, I offer supervision and support for students and professionals undertaking MBCT training. I have taught MBCT courses on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Bath and supervised students on the MBCT diploma at Exeter University.
I am committed to an integrative and practical approach, informed by both modern psychological science and contemplative traditions.
Confidentiality is paramount in all my sessions, and I work in accordance with professional ethical standards.
You do not need prior experience with therapy or meditation to benefit from working with me. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and stages of life.
